I am currently studying towards a City & Guilds 424 and 425 (Advanced) Applications Programming (COBOL) qualification. The studies are through the distance learning company, Computeach, and the course will take around 18 months to complete. The content of the course takes the student from the very basics of a computer (Hard Drives, Floppy Disks, Data Storage and Processing etc.) through to an introduction into programming (PASCAL) and onto the language of COBOL, and its elements. The aim of the course is to give the student the tools and experience to program at a level which is commercially excepted. Computeach set internal examinations and tests which must completed and passed before you can continue to the next stages, the main examinations are set and audited by City & Guilds. I have included course content overview links in this page, so you can see exactly what the course covers. Should you wish to learn more about Computeach, you can find them at the link below. The stage that I am currently on will be highlighted, on the link, in green.
